Which beer to pick for a match?

A match lasts about two hours, and a well-chosen beer can be part of it rather than just an add-on. Here is a simple way to choose well.

Start light

For the first half, a lager or pilsner works best: cold, dry and refreshing. It is easy to drink, does not tire you out and goes well with snacks.

For the excitement: a style with character

When the match heats up, reach for a pale ale or an IPA. The hop bitterness and citrus aromas keep up with the pace of the game.

For extra time and penalties

  • Wheat beer if you prefer a soft, fruity taste.
  • Stout or porter if you like notes of coffee and chocolate.
  • Slower, not more: during a long match it is better to drink at your own pace.

Not sure what to choose?

Ask the staff at any of our venues. We are happy to pick a beer to suit your taste and whatever is on the screens right now.

Remember: alcohol is for adults only, and get home safely after the match.
